National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing individualised support for people with permanent and significant disability, their families and carers. For more information visit NDIS Website

You can receive funding from the NDIS if you are Under 65 years of age An Australia citizen, a permanent resident, or Protected Special -Category Visa holder Have a permanent or significant disability and require support from others.

No. Payments such as Carer Payment, Carer Allowance, Carer Supplement or Disability Pension and Child Disability Assistance Payment as well as other income supports and payments are entirely separate to the NDIS and will not be affected by NDIS eligibility.
The NDIS is NOT means tested. A carer’s payment will not be affected unless their role as carer is substantially reduced due to the level of NDIS funding for the person they are caring for.
If you currently receive Disability Supports and decide you would like to transition to the NDIS, you may need to provide additional evidence so that a well informed decision can be decided about your NDIS eligibility.

No. A person must be an Australian citizen, hold a permanent visa or be a protected SCV holder to access the NDIS. New Zealand citizens who arrived in Australia after 26th February 2001 will be unable to access the NDIS.
